Simon Turcotte, MD, CDM Board Vice Chair
Simon Turcotte obtained his medical degree at Université de Montréal.
He has been active in the medical student association at different levels
and participated in international health projects. He is now completing a
master's degree in immuno-oncology and his residency in general surgery. The Chaoulli decision has prompted the creation of a new physician coalition in Québec, named "Médecins pour l'accès à la santé". Simon coordinates the activities of the group, whose goal is to propose concrete and equitable solutions to improve access to health care and to reduce waiting times within the public system. Two hundred physicians have supported the document presented by the group for the public consultation related to the Quebec government's response to the Chaoulli decision. The group will be heard at the Provincial Commission in mid-May 2006.
