Photo of Dr. Stewart Dr. Ronald Stewart holds the position of Professor and Director of Medical Humanities, within the Faculty of Medicine of his alma mater Dalhousie University. He also currently holds joint appointments as Professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, and Community Health/Epidemiology, and in the Faculty of Health Professions at Dalhousie and Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and the Medical School of the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Stewart has received numerous awards and acknowledgements of his academic and life achievements.

Dr. Stewart is an Officer of the Order of Canada, a Member of the Order of Nova Scotia, a former Minister of Health for the Province of Nova Scotia and a member of the provincial parliament. He was born in North Sydney, on the island of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

Dr. Stewart continues in his role as a national advocate of Canada's health system and of health renewal in Canada and the Province of Nova Scotia.
